Magdalen Ser is a highly experienced mental health therapist with over 30 years of clinical practice across health, mental health, community, and educational settings in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. 


She is a Registered Medicare Provider and is able to provide Medicare rebates to clients presenting with a valid Mental Health Care Plan through their Doctor or Psychiatrist.

Qualifications, Training & Experience


Magdalen holds a Master of Science in Family Therapy from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London (1996). Her postgraduate training included clinical attachments at the Maudsley Hospital Adolescent Eating Disorder Clinic, King’s College Hospital, and the Lewisham Child Guidance Clinic in London.

She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Social Work) and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours – Sociology) from the National University of Singapore.


Prior to establishing full-time private practice, Magdalen held senior clinical, teaching, and leadership roles internationally, including:

  • Deputy Director, Singapore Association for Mental Health 
  • Senior Counsellor, Student Counselling Service, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
  • Senior Social Worker, Inpatient Psychiatric Services, Wellington Hospital
  • Adjunct Lecturer, National University of Singapore
  • Counsellor in secondary schools and community health services in Melbourne

Magdalen is an integrative and trauma-informed therapist, working within a client-centred, attachment-focused, strength-based, neurophysiological, and biopsychosocial framework. She understands emotional and psychological distress within relational, developmental, and social contexts.


She believes individuals have an innate capacity to access their inner resources of resilience, strengths, and values to heal, grow, and live meaningful lives. 


Magdalen provides a compassionate and holding therapeutic space for clients as they engage in their healing journey of discovery, restoration, and growth.
